Mark
Webber has been studying and teaching meditation and the path of
awakening for over twenty five years in association with many eminent
Buddhist scholars and teachers around the world, most recently in
Nepal.
In addition
to his meditation-oriented skills, Webber holds a masters degree
in anthropology, is a professional gemstone cutter and sculptor,
and has many years of experience as an arts administrator and educator.
As a
child, Webber displayed a precocious intelligence and curiosity
about the natural world. By age fifteen he was doing research in
biochemistry in his own laboratory at the University of Toronto.
At eighteen he encountered the Venerable Namgyal Rinpoche, the first
westerner to be recognized as a realized being by any Tibetan Buddhist
lineage.
Mark
traveled and studied extensively with the Rinpoche, and was a Resident
Teacher at the Dharma Centre of Canada, the oldest of forty centres
dedicated to the study of Buddhist practice and philosophy established
by Rinpoche around the world. Currently he is a Resident Teacher
at the Crystal
Mountain Retreat Centre on Galiano Island, BC.
